Anritsu Corporation has announced that the first Non-Public Network (NPN) Protocol conformance tests for 5G New Radio (NR) Standalone (SA) have been verified on the 5G NR Mobile Device Test Platform ME7834NR powered by the Snapdragon X70 5G Modem-RF System, a 5th generation modem-to-antenna 5G solution from Qualcomm Technologies.
NPN or Private 5G networks have been introduced by 3GPP Release 16 to allow the use of 5G technologies to create a dedicated network with unified connectivity, optimised services, and enhanced security within a specific area. 5G NPN can be run by government, third party or network operators using already deployed 5G networks to cater for different vertical industry segments.
“Non-Public Networks enable the expansion of 5G to cover new use cases including those defined by Industry 4.0,” said Keiji Kameda, general manager of mobile solutions division at Anritsu Corporation. “Our continued collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies has helped us achieve yet another important milestone.”
The conformance tests are defined by 3GPP in TS 38.523-1 and have been submitted to 3GPP Radio Access Network Working Group 5 by Anritsu. The tests will also be submitted to Global Certification Forum (GCF) Certification Agreement Group (CAG), and PCS Type Certification Review Board (PTCRB) PTCRB Validation Group (PVG) for approval.
