SERDES device for Gbit-Ethernet

PMC-Sierra's 8-channel PM8352 OctalPHY 1G and the 4-channel PM8354 QuadPHY 1G serialiser/deserialiser (SERDES) devices for high-speed serial backplanes and Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) transceivers are optimised to exceed IEEE 802.3 Gig-Ethernet signal integrity standards. The devices provide up to eight independent 1,0 to 1,25 Gbps channels. The OctalPHY 1G can be configured as a single logical trunked channel providing 8 Gbps duplex data rate, while the QuadPHY 1G can be configured to provide 4 Gbps duplex data rate. Integrated capabilities include Gigabit Ethernet physical coding sublayer (PCS), physical medium attachment (PMA), GMII (gigabit media independent interface), and TBI (10-bit interface). The OctalPHY 1G and the QuadPHY 1G devices are packaged in a 19x19 mm2 footprint, thermally enhanced 289-pin CABGA.
