A trio of converters is available from Hi-Flying for converting RS-232 and RS-485 signals to GPRS, Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

The Elfin-EG1X provides GPRS connectivity. It integrates a TCP/IP controller, memory, high-speed serial port and includes a fully developed TCP/IP network stack and mbed operating system. It also supports remote configuration and monitoring with IOTService.

For Wi-Fi connectivity, the Elfin-EW1X also integrates a TCP/IP controller, memory, high-speed serial port and includes a fully developed TCP/IP network stack and mbed operating system. It also supports remote configuration and monitoring with IOTService.

The Elfin-EE1X provides Ethernet connectivity to web-enable any device. It integrates a TCP/IP controller, memory, 10/100 Mbps Ethernet transceiver, high-speed serial port and includes a fully developed TCP/IP network stack and FreeRTOS operating system. The Elfin-EE1X also includes an embedded web server used to remotely configure, monitor or troubleshoot the attached device.

All three devices are based on a highly integrated hardware and software platform in a 61 x 26 x 17,8 mm package. They have been optimised for all kinds of applications in industrial control, smart grid, personal medical and remote control, that have lower data rates and transmit or receive data on an infrequent basis.
