Holt Integrated Circuits added two new devices to its ARINC 429 receiver family designed specifically for use without a microprocessor. All configuration and control is programmed using logic input pins, eliminating the need for a microprocessor or software interface and the related costs for software certification. The devices provide an optional parity check feature, discarding words received with parity errors.
The HI-8477 connects directly to the ARINC 429 bus and makes the data available at 32 digital output pins. The HI-8478 option provides the inverse (complement) of the HI-8477 outputs. ARINC 429 label filtering is defined by 16 digital input pins, defining a maskable label match to enable reception of a single label or group of labels.
The devices support both high-speed and low-speed ARINC 429 data rates, operating from a 1 MHz clock source and a single 3,3 V or 5,0 V power supply. They are available in a 64-pin PQFP package in industrial (40°C to +85°C) and extended (55°C to +125°C) temperature ranges. The receiver inputs are lightning protected using only two external resistors.
