MikroElektronika’s ‘Nano GPS click’ breakout board carries one of the world’s smallest GPS modules – the Nano Hornet from OriginGPS. Measuring 10 x 10 x 3,8 mm, including the built-in patch antenna, it’s about the size of a shirt button, and equally suitable as a wearable. Despite its tiny size, the module achieves a time to first fix of less than one second, with accuracy of approximately one metre and tracking sensitivity down to -163 dBm.
The Nano Hornet is already finding interesting applications, such as in the kickstarter-funded ZANO ‘selfie-drone’. The ZANO is a small quad-copter, controllable from the user’s smartphone, with a built-in camera and intelligent stabilisation technology.
For developers wishing to integrate the Nano Hornet into their designs, the ‘Nano GPS click’ breakout board offers a quick way to get started with the module.
