Connect One has released the Nano WiReach MAX-SMT module to support b/g/n Wi-Fi over an industrial temperature range of -30°C to +85°C. It offers 3G routing, Wi-Fi client and access-point capabilities and, like its predecessor, measures 2,0 x 3,7 cm, allowing for a simple upgrade from Wi-Fi b/g to b/g/n without hardware or software changes.
To maximise connectivity and versatility, the device offers multiple hardware interfaces, extensive firmware and a full suite of secure Internet protocols for up to eight Wi-Fi users in router or access-point modes. Designers can thus gain immediate, full–featured connectivity without any Wi-Fi driver development or porting.
The MAX-SMT module can also serve as an independent Wi-Fi access point where Wi-Fi infrastructure does not exist. In this usage mode, customers can connect to and manage their deployed, in-field device via standard Wi-Fi clients such as iPhones, iPads and other mobile phones and devices.
To ensure security, the device includes the latest Wi-Fi encryption algorithms (WPA/WPA2, in both PSK and enterprise modes), Internet SSL communication and encryption algorithms. In addition, it acts as an inherent firewall, protecting the embedded application from attacks originating from the Internet.
Nano WiReach MAX-SMT includes RMII, USB, SPI and fast UART interfaces for easy integration into existing or new designs. It is available with an antenna connector or a built-in antenna.
The module supports 10 simultaneous TCP/UDP sockets; two listening TCP sockets; SMTP, MIME, POP3, FTP, Telnet and HTTP/HTTPS clients; and an HTTP/HTTPS embedded Web server with a website for the host application and one for configuring the module.
