7 March 2012 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

Option Wireless Technology has released its latest high-speed, embedded LGA product – the GTM601W. This embedded broadband/3G module is provided in a 70-pin LGA form factor, catering for applications utilising high-volume, automated assembly.

The device provides 14,4 Mbps HSDPA connectivity for downlink and 5,76 Mbps HSUPA speed for uplink. Data support is also provided for 2G infrastructure, allowing the device to operate seamlessly on all data networks.

Also integrated are embedded GPS capabilities. With a time to first fix of 32 seconds at -130 dBm (50 seconds for a weaker signal) and a tracking sensitivity of -154 dBm typical, as well as concurrent GPS/Glonass operation, the GPS is not simply an afterthought. With enhanced voice features, the GTM601W is also a suitable fit for voice applications as well. In terms of interface, the module has a 4 x 4 wire interface for UART/UIM/SPI/PCM/NFC/I²C and I²S communications.

As a ready-to-embed broadband product, the GTM601W has certified support for Windows XP 32 Bit,Windows Vista 32/64 Bit, Windows 7 32/64 Bit (Mobile Broadband API, Sensor and Location API), Windows Mobile CE/Mobile (RIL, GPS driver), Linux (kernel version 2.6.26 and higher), Android (RIL, audio HAL, GPS HAL), Google Chrome and MeeGo.
