The ADPT-026 adapter from Poynting Antennas is designed to boost broadband signals when using a USB modem. It works with any modem, even if it does not have a connector for an external antenna. The adapter consists of a flexible band made from durable material that will fit over a variety of USB modems. The adapter is simply pushed over the modem and the other end is linked to a high gain external antenna to improve connection speed and reliability.
Poynting also supplies a variety of antennas to suit the booster system. The LPDA-A0044 is the highest gain antenna, covering all the GSM bands including GPRS, EDGE, 3G and HSDPA. It is directional, which means it must be pointed in the direction of the cellular provider’s nearest tower. It comes with 7 m cable that is led into the building. It operates over the 820–1000 MHz and 1710–2800 MHz frequency bands and has a gain of 11 dBi.
The PANL-A0038 is a directional antenna that can be mounted to a window. It only covers the 3G and HSDPA bands and is also directional. It comes with 5 m cable and can be bought in a kit with the universal adapter. The OMNI-A0069 is an omnidirectional antenna that communicates with any tower. It covers all the bands (GPRS, EDGE, 3G and HSDPA) and comes with a N(f) connector and sturdy L-bracket. It can be ordered with a 5 or 10 m extension cable.
