Agilent Technologies has unveiled Genesys 2010, a new release of its high-performance RF/microwave design software. The software, used by circuit board and subsystem designers, now includes nonlinear X-parameter simulation and modelling technology to enable highly accurate and convenient RF nonlinear circuit and system designs.
X-parameters are the rigorous mathematical extension of familiar S-parameters for linear and nonlinear modelling. Genesys allows X-parameter models with load-pull impedance and bias dependence to be used in nonlinear circuit design or for co-simulation with the Genesys Spectrasys system simulator. In this way, nonlinear circuits can be accurately tuned or optimised to meet system simulation specification in a single pass.
Key improvements over the previous Genesys software release include 10 times faster optimisation and schematic update speed, as well as improved schematic capture efficiency with precision copy-paste and increased node wiring gravity. It boasts intuitive simulation controls, error reporting and help documentation to make it easier to use. Improved Momentum GX and GXF electromagnetic simulation with trapezoidal meshing provides for better speed and accuracy, but with reduced memory consumption. The new release also offers improved reliability and usability to reduce crashes and user annoyances in routine tasks.
