USB to serial converters

20 January 2010 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

Advantech has introduced the USB-4604B and USB-4604BM, USB to 4-port RS232 and USB to 4-port RS232/422/485 converters.

Both models offer plug-and-play serial connectivity for USB equipped PCs and systems, and since they are USB-powered, there is no need for additional power supplies.

The devices are both fully USB v1.1 and v2.0 compliant and feature serial communication rates of up to 921,6 Kbps. The USB-4604BM provides software selectable RS232/422/485 settings for each port and automatic RS485 send data control. Both models include 16 kV electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection and utilise standard DB9 male connectors, so that common PC cables can be used without additional adapters.

To ensure a reliable USB connection, a type-B USB connector with thumbscrews makes sure that the cable stays connected despite vibration or inadvertent tugging on the cable. For convenience, a USB cable with locking connector is included with each unit. Packaged in rugged ABS plastic, the USB-4604B and USB-4604BM are ready for DIN-rail or direct panel/wall mounting. Drivers are included for Windows 2000/2003/XP and CE 5.0.
