Latched comparators support 10 Gbps operation

9 July 2008 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

New from Hittite is a family of SiGe monolithic, ultra fast comparators which feature reduced swing PECL output drivers and latch inputs. They support 10 Gbps operation while providing 130 ps propagation delay and 60 ps minimum pulse width with 0,8 ps rms random jitter.

Overdrive and slew rate dispersion are typically 10 ps, making the devices ideal for a wide range of applications from ATE to broadband communications, including high-speed instrumentation, digital receiver systems, pulse spectroscopy, high-speed trigger circuits, as well as clock and data restoration. The devices feature high speed latch and programmable hysteresis and may be configured to operate in either latch mode, or as tracking comparators.

The HMC674LC3C features reduced swing PECL output stages designed to directly drive 400 mV into 50 Ω terminated to Vcco–2 V, while maintaining compatibility with other PECL logic families. Active gain is 53dB and power dissipation is 180 mW.

The HMC675LC3C offers a reduced swing CML output stage which directly drives 200 mV into 50 Ω terminated to GND. Active gain is 40 dB and power dissipation is 120 mW.

The HMC676LC3C features a reduced swing ECL output stage designed to directly drive 400 mV into 50 Ω terminated to Vcci–2 V. Active gain is 53 dB and power dissipation is 120 mW.
