Automotive-grade 3G M2M wireless CPU

8 August 2007 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

Wavecom has launched a fully programmable 3G wireless CPU, using high bandwidth cellular capabilities to address the growing automotive and alarm/security markets.

The Q26 Ultra, with Wideband CDMA functionality, bridges the entire spectrum of bearers from 2G, through 2,5G and 2,75G, to 3G. With this new product, Wavecom claims to be the only wireless provider today to offer an automotive-grade design and qualification that will allow car makers to meet the demand for in-vehicle infotainment. For the security market, the high bandwidth capacity makes it ideal for video cameras in sophisticated alarm and security systems.

The Q26Ultra encompasses features such as being programmable via Wavecom's M2M and automotive Open AT environment, providing native execution of embedded, standards-based, C applications. It is powered by a tri-core processor with dual DSPs and an ARM926 running at 208 MHz. Multiple hardware interfaces are available to run a variety of digital and analog peripherals. Wavecom's WCDMA protocol stack software ensures product continuity for customers and the form factor and customer application software are interchangeable with current Q26 series devices.

The Q26Ultra is fully type-approval certified, includes IPR indemnification and is RoHS compliant.
