bhi offers a noise-eliminating extension speaker that incorporates digital signal processing (DSP) technology to remove noise, interference and unwanted background sounds from speech. According to the company, the NES10-2 MKII noise-eliminating speaker greatly improves the clarity and intelligibility of speech in a variety of radio communications such as amateur radio, HF and two-way radio, marine communications, telecommunications, and emergency services, etc, and is suitable for use in almost any situation where background noise and interference give rise to poor quality reception.
The NES10-2 MKII extension speaker is fully adaptive to any changes in interference and background noise levels, and no training of the DSP is required. The noise cancelling can be switched on or off and there are eight user-selectable noise cancellation levels. LEDs indicate both noise cancelling and power on. There is also an earphone socket allowing for use without disturbing other people or for privacy, and the sensitivity control of the speaker allows one to adjust it to suit one's own equipment.
It mounts like any standard extension speaker in a base or mobile situation, and is powered by any 12-24 V d.c. unregulated power supply. Audio output power is 2,5 W r.m.s. max and the 200 g unit measures 10 x 65 x 55 mm. It is supplied as standard with a 2 metre audio lead terminated with a 3,5 mm mono jack plug, and with a fused power lead.
