Webb Industries has introduced two more novel products to the telecoms sector, namely its active GPS repeater system and the ACA 140 low-profile (40 mm high) Orbcomm antenna that can be mounted vertically or horizontally.
The ACA 140 low-profile Orbcomm antenna
Webb Industries engineering manager Terry Reuss explains that the ACA 140 is designed specifically for the Orbcomm satellite tracking system. Orbcomm is a wireless telecoms company supplying narrow-band, two-way digital messaging, data communications and geo-positioning services on a global basis. The company owns and operates a network comprising 30 low earth orbit satellites and terrestrial gateways deployed worldwide.
The active GPS repeater system
"The ACA 140 shares the major advantage of the M3WB in being very compact, but it needs the ground plane for a reasonable performance," explains Reuss.
The active GPS repeater system is designed for indoor testing of GPS antennas, as well as for mobile in-car applications.
"This is also a completely new product for a specialised niche market. It is aimed mainly at the UK, Europe, US and South American export markets at present, but could eventually become applicable to the South African market," says Reuss. He explains that a signal from a Nemo compact GPS antenna, for example, can be picked up on the outside of a building and retransmitted inside.
Webb Industries has become a leading innovator in ancillary products for telecommunications infrastructure. The company also offers a comprehensive range of coaxial cables and connectors, duplexers and filters, earthing, lightning protection, as well as the supply and installation of masts and towers.
