Intersil's latest Commlink family of digital radio circuits now supports all protocols for current and next-generation cellphone wireless standards. According to the company, it provides support for a wide range of standards including GSM, IS-136 TDMA, EDGE, IS-95 CDMA, AMPS and 3G with a wide range of digital radio ICs, including digital up- and down-converters and data conversion devices. The devices provide higher speed and throughput to meet the growing needs of the digital radio and wireless Internet markets using cellular basestation terminal servers (BTS) and broadband wireless access.
By allowing multiple protocols to be handled by a single system, Commlink devices eliminate the need for protocol-specific hardware. This allows basestations to handle the latest higher speed protocols to provide the higher bandwidth and traffic capacity demanded by cellular operators and users.
The latest devices in Intersil's Commlink digital radio solutions family include the CommLink ISL5217 up-converter and ISL5216 down-converter5350.
