Bluetooth power amplifier is miniature

SiGe Semiconductor has released a series of Bluetooth miniature power amplifiers (PAs) that are optimised for portable consumer electronics. The PA2423U RangeCharger series is designed for Bluetooth Class 1 connectivity for wireless transmission over a range of up to 100 metres. The PAs come in a lead-free 6-pin QFN package with a height of only 0,5 mm. According to SiGe, they are based on its unique PA architecture and are capable of +23 dBm output power with 45% power-added efficiency. They can overcome insertion losses of up to 2,5 dB between the amplifier output and antenna input allowing reliable signals over the full 100 metre transmission range. Current consumption is 135 mA while operating at +23 dBm output.
