W.L. Gore and Associates has evolved its Gore-Shield range of waveguide flange gaskets for enhanced EMI and pressure sealing. Manufactured from a conductive expanded PTFE, which is much thinner than alternative sealing materials, the gaskets will not cold flow. Standard sizes are available but the gaskets can also be made for individual requirements.
Available in two grades, GS2100 is the UK DEF STAN 59 –103 and USA DESC 92017 approved military grade material, whilst GS500 is designed for non-military applications. Gaskets without adhesive backing are supplied as standard, however they are also available with a conductive pressure sensitive adhesive (CPSA).
The lightweight gaskets are capable of operation over a very wide temperature range and make superior alternatives to metal shims, filled silicone inserts or conductive paint. They are soft and conformable, and provide an excellent EMI/environmental seal even on scratched flange surfaces.
