Kapton’s polyimide film tape, made from Kapton polyimide film with silicone adhesive, can be used to protect circuit boards, consumer electronics, solar, wind, aerospace, automotive and other application from high temperatures. The tape exhibits good adhesion on difficult surfaces, and its low adhesive transfer ensures that surfaces are left cleaner after removal.
Kapton tape has low outgassing properties and is ideal for high vacuum applications, in addition to its excellent performance for electrical and thermal insulation with high dielectric strength. It has a specified temperature range of -75°C to +260°C.
Available in widths from 6 to 50 mm with a length of 33 m, applications for the tape include masking on printed circuit boards during soldering; masking for vacuum deposition; holding samples or parts in high vacuum; positioning tape for cryo applications; electrical insulation on transformers, coils and electric motors.
