New thermal paste and heatsink design

6 August 2014 Circuit & System Protection

Alutronic, best known for its long history of manufacturing heatsinks, is venturing into the heat conductive paste market with its own branded product. Using its own filling process from bulk containers, the company is now able to offer a high-end thermal compound at competitive prices, starting at low order volumes.

Available in two formulations – PA700 with silicon and PA701 without – the paste is supplied in 10 g, 20 g, 50 g or 100 g syringes; 250 g or 500 g capsules; and 500 g cartridges. PA700 exhibits heat conductivity of 0,8 W/mK, operating temperature of -40°C to 180°C and heat resistance up to 200°C, while PA701’s heat conductivity is 0,7 W/mK, its operating temperature range is narrower at -40°C to 150°C and it is also heat resistant up to 200°C.

Also new is the addition of a high fin profile to the company’s standard heatsink portfolio. Known as PR392, this design has a height of 106 mm and width of 198 mm, with optional side rims extending its mounting possibilities. With its smooth fin surface and optimised space between fins, it is suitable for forced or natural convection.
