Bourns announced the release of the TISP4SxxxyyBJR-S series of single bidirectional thyristor surge protectors, designed to limit over-voltages on telephone lines. A single device provides 2-point protection and is typically used for the protection of 2-wire telecommunication equipment (eg, between the Ring and Tip wires for telephones and modems).
The new series consists of a symmetrical voltage-triggered bidirectional thyristor, provided in a space-saving surface mount SMB package. The model series meets industry standard requirements for RoHS compliancy and lead-free solder reflow profiles.
Rated protection voltage ranges from ±40 V to ±400 V, while 10/1000 μs surge withstand ratings are between 30 and 80 A. Combinations of devices can be used for multi-point protection (eg, 3-point protection between Ring, Tip and Ground).
