RF power amplifiers

19 September 2012 Analogue, Mixed Signal, LSI

Hittite has launched three new power amplifiers (PAs) which cover the 9 to 14 GHz frequency range and are designed for microwave radio, military and space, SATCOM and test and measurement applications. The HMC952 and HMC952LP5GE are four-stage, 2 Watt devices with temperature-compensated on-chip power detectors. They provide 33 dB of gain, +35 dBm of saturated output power, and 27% power added efficiency (PAE) from a +6 V supply. The HMC1053 is a four-stage, 5 Watt PA with power detector. It provides 34 dB of gain, +43 dBm output IP3 and +38 dBm of saturated output power at 26% PAE from a +7 V power supply. The ICs also feature I/Os that are internally matched to 50 Ω and require no external matching components.
