Connectors for LEVs

12 October 2011 Interconnection

Rosenberger’s RoPD range is a connector system developed for the light electric vehicle (LEV) industry eg, pedelecs, e-bikes, e-scooters and wheelchairs. They are suited for data communication and power transmission of voltages up to 48 V and current loads up to 50 A. RoPD connectors utilise magnetic locking with a dependable self-locking capability instead of a mechanical plug-in mount. Forced disconnection will not damage the connector or the LEV.

The connectors feature four pins for data communication and two pins for power transmission. They have a shallow mounting depth and are water, shock and vibration proof, with a rating of IP67/IP69 for the plug and IP65/IP67 for the jack, when mated. The connectors are also UV resistant and can withstand in excess of 5000 mating cycles.

Cable assemblies are available for different currents (10 A, 30 A, 50 A) assembled with a charging connector jack (straight or right angle), battery panel plug (round or square) and/or slide-in panel jack (flexibly seated).
