Enhanced toggle and pushbutton switches

3 March 2010 Switches, Relays & Keypads

Knitter-switch has redesigned its popular MT and MP families of toggle and pushbutton switches. In doing so, the company has not only made improvements to the component parts of the switches, but has also optimised the production process, allowing for a reduction in lead times for standard switches by two thirds. The company states that even customer specific special variants can be supplied in just six to eight weeks. Both switch families are suitable for a wide range of applications in test and measurement instruments, mechanical engineering and production automation, as well as outdoor applications such as harvesters, GSM repeaters and railway systems.

Available with 1 to 4 poles, key features of the improved switch ranges include a mechanical life of up to 200 000 operations, almost unlimited switching function combinations, an operating temperature range as high as 140°C and the availability of waterproof versions to IP67. Waterproof rubber caps and coloured marking caps can be specified, as well as various toggle and pushbutton actuators suitable for extreme environments. Switch contacts are available plated in gold or silver rated to suit individual applications and are rated from 20 mV/

1 μA to 250 V/3 A.
