High-speed, bidirectional level translators in a tiny UCSP

8 August 2007 Analogue, Mixed Signal, LSI

The MAX13042E and MAX13045E from Maxim are high-speed, 4-channel, bidirectional level translators with ±15 kV ESD protection on I/O Vcc lines. These devices provide the level shifting necessary for high-speed data transfer in multivoltage systems by operating with VL voltages from +1,62 V to +3,2 V and Vcc voltages from +2,2 V to +3,6 V. Over these operating-voltage ranges, the devices provide a guaranteed data rate of 100 Mbps with external push-pull or open-drain drivers that source as little as 4 mA output current. Offering low-voltage operation and ESD protection in a tiny, 1,54 mm x 2,12 mm UCSP, these level translators are ideal for high-speed data transfer between low-voltage ASICs/PLDs and higher voltage systems. Their compatibility with both push-pull and open-drain drivers is enabled by a pass-gate architecture and by the integration of internal current sources that are capable of sourcing 30 mA to pull up the I/O lines. The devices are fully specified over the extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, and are available in tiny, 3 mm x 3 mm, 14-pin TDFN and 1,54 mm x 2,12 mm, 12-bump UCSP packages.
