Hittite Microwave's new 1200-3000 MHz low noise amplifier is comprised of two internally matched SiGe HBT MMIC LNA stages, housed in a single 3 x 3 mm leadless SMT package, and optimised for GPS applications. The HMC548LP3 (E) has a unique topology that allows the designer to place a bandpass filter between the two amplifier stages, enabling the receiver to reject nearby blocking signals without incurring the noise figure degradation associated with a high rejection pre-filter. The device also exhibits a 1,3 dB noise figure, output IP3 of +21 dBm, requires no external matching, and operates from a single +5 V supply. When combined with an appropriate interstage bandpass filter, it may also be used as a receiver pre-amplifier in a number of applications including automotive telematics, GPS antenna modules/boosters, location-based portables, and other satellite navigation systems. Evaluation boards are also available.
