Application processes 3D scan data for design and analysis

Software and services firm, Geomagic, has released Geomagic Studio 9. As a software tool, Geomagic Studio effectively and automatically processes 3D scan data for applications ranging from reverse engineering to design and analysis.

The software can automatically create accurate models from any physical part, making it useful for emerging applications such as mass production of customised devices, build-to-order manufacturing and digital asset archiving for automatic recreation of legacy parts.

This latest release of the company's digital reconstruction software features three major areas of enhancement: 3D feature-based modelling, advanced colour texture generation and greater versatility with user-defined patch layouts.

With a training time of only two days, Geomagic provides out-of-the-box productivity and allows for an open workflow for ease-of-use in automotive and aerospace applications, engineering analysis and cast and moulding industries.
