Static shielding bags for electronic boards and parts
26 July 2006Manufacturing / Production Technology, Hardware & Services
Static shielding bags have been designed for ESD safe packaging of PCBs and ICs. They protect their contents against ESD and electrostatic fields. Available from Altico Static Control Products the BBAS7200 range of static shielding bags have a 'buried layer, metal-in' construction that is amine-free and polycarbonate-compatible.
The layered construction from outside to inside comprises: dissipative coating/metallised PET/dissipative LDPE and has a total gauge of around 0,08 mm with 40% light transmission. Meeting or exceeding IEC 61340-5-1, the specs are: MVTR 4,8 g/m²/24h; SR of inner and outer layer less than 1011 Ω; resistance of aluminium layer 100 Ω (@12% RH); static shielding <10 nJ; static decay <0,03 s.
Printed with the ESD logo, date and lot code for traceability, they also feature puncture resistance to 5,4 kg. Sizes range from 76 x 127 mm to 457 x 610 mm.
Also available are 'zip top' shielding bags (BBAS7210) that feature the same properties but have a zip top closure as an alternative to folding the bags and securing them with an ESD caution label. These range in size from 76 x 127 mm to 457 x 457 mm.
