V.32bis modem IC addresses 'need-for-speed'

19 April 2006 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

The CMX869A V.32 bis Modem IC from CML addresses the current 'need for speed' in mid-range telephone data applications.

With a maximum speed of 14,4 kbps, this compact, ultra-low powered telecom product is claimed to meet the requirements of most data applications, especially those that require high speed but are governed by low-power limitations.

To provide the required fallback modes for V.32 bis schemes and to allow the flexibility of 'old-to-new' system migration in OEM products, the CMX869A offers as well as V.32 bis: V.32 and V.22 bis (QAM), V.22 (DPSK) and V23, V.21 and Bell equivalent (FSK) modulation schemes.

Data rate re-train and re-negotiation operations are catered for by the IC's selectable automodem facility. Control and communication is via a simple, low-overhead serial interface and independent V.14 USART functions with HDLC options.

Envisaged as a more versatile modem for new-generation EPOS terminals and many wireline data systems, the CMX869A requires, typically, 12 mA from a 3,3 V supply and is available in 24-pin plastic small SOIC, TSSOP and DIL packages.
