Siemens introduced the first compact tri-band GSM/GPRS module equipped with a GPS receiver for satellite navigation. The XT55 combines GSM/GPRS with GPS technology to allow seamless tracking of goods, vehicles, and persons. Siemens says the new tracking module will make many new applications possible, particularly in the fields of transportation and logistics as well as security.
The single PCB mountable module is an all-in-one solution that is intended to accelerate new products' time-to-market. It has pre-configured functions and its compact size (53 x 34 x 5,1 mm) makes it easy to integrate into new applications.
