Yageo has introduced a new range of surface-mount multilayer chip varistors (MLV) under its Phycomp brand. The products are available in case sizes 0603 and 0402, with a working voltage range from 5,5 V to 30 V and in capacitances ranging from 3 pF to 680 pF.
Yageo Multilayer Chip Varistors protect sensitive low-voltage electronic circuitry against high-voltage transients. They are characterised by above-average transient energy absorption, thanks to their superior energy volume distribution and power dissipation. Moreover, their wide operating-voltage and energy range make them well-suited for protection circuitry in a host of areas including protection of V and I/O pins as well as protection of devices such as computer keyboards, LCDs and sensors.
Other key benefits include: fast response (<1 ns); low capacitance; high transient current capability; symmetrical voltage-current characteristics.
