Bourns' MF-SMHT Series of high temperature polymer PTC resettable fuses is specifically engineered for automotive applications. Its characteristics make it ideal for under the hood and wheel arch applications. Such applications demand higher operating temperatures.
The MF-SMHT Series of polymer PTC resettable fuses can operate up to 125°C, compared to 85°C for standard PTC resettable fuse products. A second benefit of the higher operating temperature is the lower thermal derating factor compared to standard devices. This feature also makes it an ideal solution for inside cabin automotive applications. In general, components that are suitable for automotive applications must be able to withstand harsh operating environments.
The MF-SMHT Series has been designed to withstand conditions such as high temperatures and humidity, high vibration, load dump conditions, jump start conditions, and salt spray. They are designed to be surface mounted and are offered with operating currents (I hold) values of 1,36 A and 1,6 A.
