Latest version of free CPLD and FPGA design tool now available

Xilinx has announced the latest version of the company's free, downloadable programmable logic development system. The integrated software environment (ISE) WebPACK software is a design tool that includes several new productivity and ease-of-use improvements, including an enhanced HTML Fitter Report with up to seven times faster report generation, native language support for equation display for VHDL, Verilog, and ABEL, and updated versions of many tools including ModelSim-II Xilinx Edition (MXE-II).
According to the company, registered users of ISE WebPACK seats has exceeded 100 000 - a major indication of the overwhelming acceptance of Xilinx's industry prevalent software for its CPLDs and Spartan and Virtex FPGAs. ISE WebPACK is a subset of the company's ISE Foundation design tools and includes a comprehensive tool suite for design entry, synthesis, verification, and implementation in a single integrated environment.
ISE WebPACK 5.2i is downloadable from www.xilinx.com/ise/webpack5. It runs on both Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
