RF Design partners with German RTLS provider

28 November 2012 News

nanotron Technologies, a leading German RTLS (real-time locating system) developer, has committed to a strategic distribution and service agreement with RF Design to grow its presence in the South African market.

nanotron’s protect-and-find product portfolio targets system integrators, middleware providers and OEMs focusing on global vertical markets. The products provide wireless solutions for hazardous and hard-to-reach environments – these include collision avoidance, asset protection and data transmission in extreme conditions.

The company promotes an open air interface supporting the ISO/IEC 24730-5:2010 standard for global asset tracking, and enables customers to sell their own vertical-specific tags.

With a strong focus on the mining sector, nanotron’s robust products are also well positioned to improve safety in the demanding South African construction, industrial and power generation industry sectors.

The manufacturer counts several global providers of safety equipment to mine operators among its customers in South Africa. These clients apply its innovative proximity-awareness CSS technology for avoiding heavy mining machinery collisions with people or assets. Besides South Africa, nanotron’s clients serve mining customers in North America, Australia, Russia and Europe.

From the three RF Design offices in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban, nanotron’s customers in South Africa will be provided with support in technical design as well as assistance for any supply chain-related need.

After his recent visit to South Africa, nanotron Technologies CEO, Jens Albers, explained his views on the South African expansion: “We see great potential for our technology in various upcoming African markets.

“nanotron is impressed with RF Design’s professional team, whose close ties to mining community customers provide a network of industry clients. I am sure that our working partnership will help us to build mining safety solutions as well as other innovative solutions for the growing South African markets.”

RF Design sales director, Andrew Hutton, commented: “We are looking forward to pushing the potential of this promising market together with nanotron Technologies. We are more than confident that the industry players will take on nanotron solutions positively.”
