Bekithemba acquires the business of Parsec Components
22 October 2003
News
Recently, the Board of Parsec was approached by Bekithemba Electronic and Mechanical Distributor, a company with 51% black ownership, with an offer to acquire the business and distributions rights of Parsec Components. In order to improve its BEE profile, Parsec had been seeking potential BEE partners for some time.
Parsec Components approached its principal suppliers with the proposal, and has announced that each has agreed to transfer its respective Agency Agreement, which allows Parsec Components to distribute its products in South Africa, to Bekithemba. On this basis and the requirement that Parsec (Pty) Ltd become a shareholder in Bekithemba, the Parsec Board approved the proposal.
Parsec Components' sales and management team, which includes Ben van der Schyff, Heidi Blom and Joe Masina, as well as its stock and marketing material, have been transferred to Bekithemba in Sinoville, Pretoria. The list of the principal suppliers that Bekithemba will represent in South Africa, are: Analog Devices; Axiomtek; NVE; Blackhawk; PLX; Forth-Systeme; Raisonance; Netsilicon; Bittware; Ultralife Batteries; Xiamen Ocular LCD Devices.
Parsec and its team of electronic design engineers have undertaken to continue providing technical support to Bekithemba customers.
