Whether it’s for preventing, measuring or mitigating electrostatic discharge (ESD) in an electronics production environment, Hot Tools supplies a comprehensive range of products to meet virtually every need.
The AE-800 Megohmmeter is a dependable and easy-to-use audit kit for conductive and dissipative surfaces. This meter is designed to be used in all facets of material production including engineering, maintenance, quality control, incoming inspection, manufacturing, research or sales departments for testing of anti-static mats, floor finishes, paints, wrist straps, smocks, footwear, bags and containers. The kit measures surface resistivity, resistance, temperature and humidity. It is designed to test conductive, anti-static and static dissipative surfaces for electrical resistivity/resistance according to EOS/ESD, CECC, ANSI, ASTM and UL test procedures.
Also available is a combination tester, made in the USA, for wrist straps and footwear. It provides simple operation with test results clearly displayed via LEDs, and produces a visible and audible alarm if circuit resistance is too high or too low.
Wearable ESD products that Hot Tools supplies include the likes of finger cots (cleanroom class 100) made from pink anti-static, powder free natural Latex, ideal for free use of the hand with protection offered for the product from the fingers. Wrist straps in blue elastic safely ground a person working with electronic equipments or at an electronic assembly facility. They consist of a band of fabric with fine conductive fibres woven into it. The fibres are usually made of carbon or carbon-filled rubber and the strap is bound with a stainless steel clasp or plate.
Antistatic gloves prevent damaging static discharge while working on static-sensitive equipment. They are made from seamless knit nylon for great dexterity, with polyurethane coated palm and fingers for abrasion resistance. These gloves also feature gripping dots to prevent skidding, and a breathable back for comfort.
The product range also comprises 3 m grounding cords with a built-in 1 M resistor, 10 mm female snap connection and 4,3 x 8 mm ring terminal. Designed for use at workstations, these provide a common grounding point for one or two wrist straps, as well as table mats and runners. ESD foam, ESD labels in 12 x 12 mm sizes and ESD waste bins made of conductive polypropylene are also available.
Other products include ESD rubber mats, also known as two layer mats, which have a static dissipative top rubber layer laminated to a conductive rubber bottom layer; a conductive PCB holder that uses raised studs to secure a PCB and cut-outs for carrying; as well as shielding bags with a special 4-layer structure that forms an induction hood effect to isolate the inside items from electrostatic fields – with an inner layer made of static eliminable polyethylene, these hot seal bags are transparent so the items inside can be clearly recognised from outside.
