Bourns has released a new surge protection product – Model CDSOT23-T24CAN – for protecting Controller Area Network (CAN) interfaces. Supplied in a SOT23-3 package, the device integrates dual bidirectional TVS (transient voltage suppression) diodes for protecting both lines of a single CAN interface. The minimum breakdown voltage of 26,2 V is well suited for transceivers with internal circuitry for 24 V power supply mis-wiring.
The CDSOT23-T24CAN is designed to provide ±30 kV contact discharge ESD protection per IEC 61000-4-2 and 500 V surge protection per IEC 61000-4-5 (Level 1). It can be used to improve the reliability of industrial CANbus systems and robustness against damage from ESD and other transient voltage events.
