Otto Marketing: serving SA for 19 years

1 April 2009 News

In order to keep up with the huge growth in wireless communications, and in particular in the explosion of GSM- and GPS-based applications, Otto Marketing, a long standing manufacturer of quality cable assemblies and RF cable assemblies, has become the South African agent for Simcom Wireless Solutions, one of the largest Asian wireless module manufacturers.

Simcom manufactures high quality wireless modules for different technology platforms. The wireless modules product family conveniently covers the GSM/GPRS/EDGE, WCDMA/HSDPA, TDSMA and GPS wireless segments.

These products offer a rich set of features to allow customers to develop powerful applications in M2M communications, telematics, metering and tracking.

Otto offers full support as well as development kits and starter packs to interested clients on loan or at no charge. The company is confident that with its combination of these kits and its technical staff, it can enable potential users to ‘go wireless’ within 10 minutes.

In order to support not only the Simcom range, but any and all wireless products, Otto Marketing also offers a full range of antennas for GSM, GPS, combo, LAN etc, RF cable assemblies and pigtails, custom cable assemblies, interface connectors and other related products.

Otto Marketing is based in a 1000 square metre industrial premises in Randburg. In order to ensure the highest standards of quality and workmanship for all cable assemblies, the company has purchased and installed a range of tools and equipment that it evaluated and determined most suitable to its needs. These include two precision coaxial cable stripping machines, an HP spectrum analyser for testing RF cable assemblies, an Oristec precision cable measurement and cutting machine, two Komax compressed air crimping machines, a CMK900 electric crimping press, plus a wide variety of crimp dies for these machines.

All assembly staff have received IPC training in cable assembly and testing, and all cables are tested for both mechanical conformance and electrical performance. Cables are also tested for insertion and return loss on the HP analyser, and if required, performance graphs can be supplied with RF cable assemblies.
