Company profile - SRE Developments

6 August 2008 News

SRE Developments is a designer, manufacturer and distributor of process control and automation products, celebrating its 20th anniversary in August 2008.

During its 20-year existence, SRE earned the right to become a full distributor of Legrand and Omron products. SRE's probation period with Legrand in 1993 was successful and SRE was awarded full distributorship for 1994. In this first year as a full distributor, SRE became Legrand South Africa's number one distributor, a position which it held for the next four years. The greatest achievement during this time was in 1996, when SRE became the first Legrand distributor to exceed R1 million turnover with Legrand in one year. This achievement was repeated in 1998 when SRE was Legrand's number one distributor for industrial products.

SRE has also achieved a top 10 distributor rating for Omron electrical control components, as well as being awarded Autopage 4Warn dealer of the year for 1996/1997.

Apart from its agencies for standard components, SRE has a patented range of DIN rail mount pluggable timing and process modules, and also manufactures its own range of alarm annunciator panels, continuous level controllers, water quality controllers, power supplies and radio monitoring equipment. SRE also undertakes instrument and light current control panel design and assembly.

Over the course of its existence, SRE has supplied complete process control design and manufacture of water treatment plants from drinking to injectable quality, hospital gas monitoring systems, various process control and automation systems for the mines and industry in general as well as alarm systems for the financial market and national RF networks.

Together with its clients, SRE has developed many life support systems for humans and animals alike. In conjunction with process control systems and panels, the company designs and manufactures distribution boards for industrial, commercial and domestic use.

SRE offers prospective clients a full turnkey operation including design, development, assembly, installation and commissioning. All PCB design and assembly, software development for microcontrollers (on selected products) and automation development, is done in-house. The company is the sole manufacturer of equipment for a number of corporate clients and undertakes to manufacture equipment exclusively for clients.

A well known fact about SRE is its home for wayward kitties. What might not be so well known is SRE's support of environmental biodiversity, particularly the marine environment. Apart from being an avid supporter of Bayworld in Port Elizabeth and a Patron Member of the Animal Keeper Association of Africa, SRE supports students, scientists and technicians in the advancement of the sciences through its support of Bayworld Centre for Research and Education, as well as assisting in the development of animal keepers.
