Next-Gen Min-ITX motherboard

31 August 2026 Computer/Embedded Technology

Adding to AAEON’s extensive industrial motherboard portfolio, the Next-Gen MIX-Q870A1 is the company’s most advanced Mini-ITX board to date. Supporting up to 65 W Intel Core Ultra 200S series processors for the Edge (formerly Arrow Lake-S), the MIX-Q870A1 can achieve up to 36 TOPS of integrated AI performance, making it an exceptionally powerful foundation for solution building.

When it comes to expansion, limitations are a thing of the past. Boasting a 16-lane PCIe Gen 5 slot with a dedicated jumper for lane configuration, the MIX-Q870A1 provides modular functional expansion. This means that even when equipped with a GPU to bolster the AI acceleration offered by the Intel Core Ultra platform, the remaining lanes can be split to accommodate additional modules like NVMe SSDs, NICs, frame grabbers, or fieldbus interface cards.

The MIX-Q870A1’s M.2-1A 2280 M-Key offers a four-lane PCIe, ideal for NVMe or AI acceleration card support. Meanwhile, an M.2 2242 M-Key slot is also provided to grant users an additional SATA signal to boost storage capabilities alongside its two SATA 6 Gb/s ports. As such, the board can manage diverse storage workloads, from high bandwidth NVMe to long-term, HDD-based stable data logging. Moreover, it comes with a dedicated Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) driver, activating RAID 0, 1 functions for its SATA signal to reinforce the stability of on-system data.

The MIX-Q870A1 grants four independent displays, with two HDMI 2.0 and two DP 1.4, as well as a 40-pin LVDS/eDP connector. Meanwhile, the board’s rear I/O offers eight USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports alongside both 2.5 GbE and 1 GbE LAN ports to grant extensive connectivity for peripheral devices and wired networking. Rounding this off is an 8-bit programmable internal digital I/O header and a USB header supporting two additional USB 3.2 Gen 1 interfaces.
