Quectel Wireless Solutions has expanded its smart module portfolio with the SH803FD, a new-generation, high-performance smart module. Designed for the era of edge intelligence, the SH803FD brings computing, graphics processing, multimedia capability, and connectivity together on a single, compact LGA platform.
Smart modules combine functions that have traditionally required multiple discrete components such as the application processor, graphics processing, memory and wireless connectivity, into one highly integrated device. For design engineers, this approach removes much of the integration burden of bringing separate function-specific modules together: it simplifies board design, reduces the bill of materials, shrinks the end product, and significantly accelerates time to market.
The SH803FD continues this philosophy as one of the latest additions to Quectel’s smart module range. The module is engineered for applications that demand high levels of on-device processing, allowing data to be analysed where it is generated rather than being sent to the cloud, thereby reducing latency, lowering bandwidth costs, and improving data privacy. Its multimedia capability supports camera, display, and audio peripherals for vision-driven product experiences, while a rich set of peripheral interfaces allows designers to connect the displays, cameras, sensors, and industrial I/O their applications require.
Typical applications for the SH803FD include:
• Smart robotics, including service robots, AMRs and autonomous machines.
• Intelligent retail, such as smart POS terminals, kiosks and digital signage.
• Industrial automation, including HMIs, IoT gateways and machine control.
• Smart city infrastructure and video AI analytics.
The SH803FD is backed by the manufacturer’s established quality processes and long-term product support, helping to ensure supply continuity over the lifetime of a design.
