A new publication, the first in South Africa - and potentially the world - features 75 inventions from around the world. 'New Ideas' published by Patentdata, sets out to give readers a taste of the ingenuity of people from around the world and hopefully inspire readers' creativity. An initial patent registration for each of these inventions is pending from the Patent Co-operation Treaty (PCT). Some of the ideas included involve complex scientific, medical or engineering advances, others just the simple 'why did I not think of that?' variety. In the first edition, inventions range from a simple computer keyboard brush and an ingenious hands-free shower foot brush to a cover for a slide mobile phone, a dental drill bit for root tip extraction, a dual rotary combustion engine and a stair-climbing baby stroller pram.
