Osiris Technical Systems introduced its own rugged handheld scanner, the Ex700 Smart Scanner. This device is a 2D smart scanner, which can scan barcodes, RFID tags, ID cards/documents, and driver’s licences. It offers Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE connectivity, and near-field communication (NFC) capabilities. Sensors include a 3D accelerometer, E-compass, proximity and light sensors.
Running on Android 12 operating system, the scanner integrates an 8 MP camera. Not only is it handheld and portable, but it is also fully rugged and intrinsically safe, having been certified for multiple operating standards both locally and internationally.
The Ex 700 smart scanner’s ratings and certifications include the Zone 1 ATEX certification for Gas, Oil, Fuel & Mining environments. It is fully encapsulated, with an IP67 ingress protection rated housing. Its internal components such as its 3000 mAh battery have also been modified and fully encapsulated for intrinsically safe operation. The device has also been rated for the MIL-STD-810G standards, and has been ICASA approved.
