Robotic dog monitors manufacturing facility

Motor vehicle manufacturer, JLR, has recently acquired the services of a quadruped robot to perform specific tasks in its manufacturing and test facility in Coventry, UK. Named Rover, the Boston Dynamics-built robot dog helps engineers save time, while also enhancing safety in the facility.
Rover is programmed to patrol the facility up to 24 times per day, monitoring machinery and valves. Using advanced AI algorithms, it looks for equipment in need of maintenance, and even listens for leaks that are undetectable to humans. If anything is deemed to be amiss, an engineer can be alerted, who can then see to the problem. This advanced warning system has proved to be invaluable freeing up engineers’ time.
