Hamamatsu Photonics has been developing, manufacturing and selling imaging and measurement instruments that have high speed, high sensitivity and high resolution, making them ideal for a wide range of applications including medical, industrial and academic fields. Currently there is a continuously increasing demand for digital cameras for scientific measurement, digital slide scanners for pathology, and semiconductor failure analysis systems. Due to the prediction of growing sales of these instruments, a boost to the current production capacity was needed.
Hamamatsu has now announced the completed construction of a new factory Building No. 5 at the Joko factory site in Hamamatsu City, Japan. The new factory will help with the expanding sales of imaging and measurement instruments and will enable an increase of 1,7 times of the current production capacity. The new factory building is resilient to flooding because it includes waterproof shutters, waterproof plates, and an emergency power generator and power distribution equipment installed on the roof. The building’s ceiling structure is also designed to resist earthquakes.
The completion ceremony was held on 7 July with operations in the new factory complex due to start in August of this year.
