The MAX1542/MAX1543 devices are high-performance step-up regulators that include two high-current operational amplifiers. These Maxim devices are designed for active-matrix, thin-film transistor (TFT) liquid-crystal displays (LCDs). They include a logic-controlled, high-voltage switch with adjustable delay. The MAX1543 has an additional high-voltage switch and features a pin-selectable step-up regulator switching frequency.
These high-frequency current-mode regulators (640 kHz for MAX1543, 1,2 MHz for both MAX1543/MAX1542) have a built-in power MOSFET, allowing for ultra-small inductors and ceramic capacitors. They provide fast-transient response to pulsed loads while achieving over 85% efficiency, says Maxim.
The high-performance op amps can drive an LCD backplane (VCOM) and/or a gamma correction divider string, or can be used for other purposes. They feature high short-circuit current (150 mA), fast slew rate (7,5 V/µs), wide bandwidth (12 MHz), and rail-to-rail inputs and outputs and come in 20-pin, thin QFN packages (5 x 5 x 0,8 mm) for ultra-thin designs.
