Fastest 16-bit multifunction I/O device

29 January 2003 Test & Measurement

National Instruments has extended its simultaneous sampling multifunction I/O family with the introduction of its fastest 16-bit multifunction data acquisition (DAQ) devices for PXI and PCI. With the NI 6120 family of multifunction I/O DAQ devices, engineers and scientists can capture waveforms with better vertical resolution and frequency resolution than with traditional oscilloscopes, says NI.

The devices deliver 16-bit analog input at 800 kS/s on each of four channels for both fast-moving dynamic signals and slow-moving DC signals. Users can synchronise on-board digital I/O and waveform output with the devices' 16-bit waveform acquisition for mixed signal and stimulus-response applications. These capabilities make the NI 6120 family an alternative to higher-priced standalone instruments for many applications that require flexible channel counts and synchronisation.

The NI PXI-6120 and NI PCI-6120 multifunction I/O devices come with 64 million samples of on-board memory to ensure data integrity. They also feature two 16-bit analog output channels, eight digital I/O lines, and two counter/timers. With the devices, engineers and scientists in research and design can record signals at a high resolution for a variety of applications, including frequency domain analysis.
