Calibration and repair of RF and Telecoms test equipment

16 Feb 2000 Test & Measurement

ETECSA Services specialises in the repair and calibration of RF and telecommunications equipment and its primary focus is to assist its customer base in optimising the use of their assets by ensuring a fast and effective turnaround time while maintaining a high quality value-added service at an affordable price.

The current trend of the technology in the industry dictates for the test equipment to be calibrated regularly and expertly to the highest standards. Accordingly, the company continuously invests a considerable amount of its resources in pursuing NCS accreditation for new and better standards. This ensures confidence that its level of calibration will always exceed the expectations of its customers.

This strong commitment to customers and the company's philosophy of 'non-negotation in pursuit of quality' has earned ETECSA Services a strong reputation amongst the various suppliers in the telecommunication and electronic industry.

ETECSA Services reached an important milestone by becoming the first and only Factory Authorised Anritsu Service Centre in Africa thereby achieving international recog-nition for the standard of work that it had been pursuing. One of the primary criteria for an authorised service centre is to be able to offer 14 days turnaround time on a regular and constant basis and the procurement of spares and exchange modules from Anritsu has been geared to help achieve this objective.

Areas of expertise and accreditations

Although mainly representing Anritsu, Comstron International and EBIM SA, ETECSA says it also performs calibration and repairs on almost all makes of instruments with high success due to the diversity of expertise and knowledge of its staff as well as the dedicated value-added service it offers.

ETECSA Services is also a SANAS accredited laboratory and currently has accreditation in the following fields:

50 W: power; attenuation; voltage reflection coefficient up to 26,5 GHz; and directivity to 18 GHz.

75 W: power; attenuation; and voltage reflection coefficient up to 2 GHz.

Modulation: AM and FM up to 2 GHz.

Calibration types are:

* Certificate of conformance: not accredited in all the parameters requested but can still do them and is still traceable.

* SANAS certificate of conformance: traceable but the certificate issued is in a shortened format.

* Full SANAS certificate of conformance: traceable and the certificate issued includes results and uncertainty of measurements.

ETECSA Services, in line with other factory authorised international service centres, offers the following type of services: service agreement or extended warranty agreement; and per incident calibration/repair.
