Two new micropower low dropout (LDO) regulators for standby applications in portable and fixed power-sensitive systems are offered by Micrel Semiconductor. Consuming only 18 µA quiescent current, the MIC5233 is capable of supplying up to 100 mA of output current, and the MIC5235 is capable of supplying 150 mA. The MIC5233 supports an input voltage range of 2,3-36 V, and the MIC5235 supports a range of 2,3-24 V. Both devices are additions to Micrel's line of IttyBitty SOT-23-5 LDO regulators featuring µCap capability which allows a choice of either ceramic or tantalum capacitors. The devices are fully protected with current limit and thermal shutdown.
