Tester can certify up to 750 MHz

5 June 2002 Test & Measurement

Ideal Industries has launched the LANTEK 7, claimed to be the world's first cable tester fully compliant with the emerging Category 7/ISO F standards. This is the industry's only tester capable of certifying up to 750 MHz according to the company. Ideal Industries has also introduced the LANTEK 6, a fully compliant Category 6/ISO E cable tester with a frequency range up to 350 MHz. Both new testers offer advanced fibre options.

During the past year, IDEAL invested significant resources to engineer and bring to market two new testers to complement the company's extensive line of testing and certification products and tools. The LANTEK 6 and LANTEK 7 testers are designed to speed network installation and troubleshooting, also offering greater accuracy in both fibre and copper environments.

To complement the two LANTEK testers, IDEAL is introducing a variety of fibre accessories. These include signal loss, length, and delay measurement kits for both singlemode (SM) and multimode (MM) fibre, talkset that allows the ability to talk over fibre, and an advanced troubleshooting option that will trace fibre runs and report magnitude and distance to events. The new fibre accessories also allow installers to generate and store detailed reports.

Another innovation included in both testers is a unique link adapter scheme, offering numerous benefits to the user. Because there are no bulky adapters extending from the unit, it is very user-friendly and compact. All the adapters fit securely inside the case. This distinguishing feature also significantly reduces the unit's lifetime cost of ownership because users can replace patch cords, should they ever wear out, rather than the entire link assembly.
