Pushbutton switches for harsh applications

27 March 2002 Switches, Relays & Keypads

APEM has expanded its range of IP series pushbutton switches for harsh environments. In addition to a variety of momentary action units, new latching action OFF-ON models have been added. These models provide the visual indication of the switch state with a 2-position actuator. When the switch is in the OFF position, the actuator projects noticeably higher than when the switch is in the ON position.

Compact in size, these switches mount in a 13,6 mm hole and their behind-panel depth is less than 20 mm. Their actuator is efficiently protected against mechanical shock. The IP series pushbuttons are available in round or square configurations, illuminated or nonilluminated, with seven actuator colours and provide modern cosmetic appearance to a front panel.

Sealing to IP67 is another important advantage offered with this series. An internal elastomeric membrane located under the actuator ensures this effective sealing.

The IP series models are recommended for applications desiring an ergonomic interface in electrical, electronic, medical, instrumentation and control equipment.

Main specifications: max current/voltage rating - 100 mA, 24 V d.c. with a life of 200 000 cycles or 2 A, 125 V a.c. with a life of 10 000 cycles (per UL 1054).
